Ten days after being fired as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Raheem Morris was hired as the defensive backs coach for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.
Morris, a 1994 Irvington High School graduate, coached the NFL Buccaneers for the past three seasons. He was fired by the Bucs on Jan. 2 after Tampa Bay finished with a 4-12 record. Morris was 17-31 in three seasons with the Bucs.
In his second season in 2010, Morris finished second to New England’s Bill Bilichik in the NFL Coach of the Year balloting after guiding the Bucs to a 10-6 record, a significant improvement from 3-13 in his first season.
