Irvington High School varsity wrestlers Romario Herbert, Joshua Ogbennaya, Nehehima Shury and Edwige Gedeon enjoyed outstanding performances at the Essex County Tournament last Friday and Saturday Jan. 27-28 at Codey Arena in West Orange.
Herbert took fourth place in the 152-pound weight class.
Herbert lost to Ian Chauncey of Bloomfield, 5-2, in the consolation.
Ogbennaya placed fourth  in the 195-pound weight class, getting pinned by Belleville’s Daniel Giangrande in 2:47 in the consolation. Shury and Gedeon each took eighth in the 113-pound and 145-pound weight classes respectively.
 In the consolations, Shury was pinned by West Orange’s Nicholas  Holandez in 1:13, while Gedeon lost to Barringer’s Willie Cowans, 9-0. 
The Blue Knights finished 14th overall in the team standings among the 24 scoring teams.
Nutley won the team title for the first time ever.
West Orange was second and Seton Hall Prep was third.
