IHS takes fourth in girls’ race; sixth in boys’ at SEC

The Irvington High School boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams gave good efforts at the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division Championships on Oct. 12 at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
The girls placed fourth overall and the boys were sixth.
The Blue Knights received good performances from Paul Brown, who was 20th in 19:16; freshman Rameek Loring, 31st, 20:07; and Shaquille Tucker, 32nd, 20:18. The Lady Knights placed three in the top 10. They were led by Kasey Cox, second in 21:34; Ava Lovell, seventh, 22:55; and D’Liyah Brown, ninth, 23:07.
The Blue Knights will regroup and prepare for the county meet on Oct. 29th at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield.

Boys
Bloomfield 59 points, won sixth-place tie-breaker; Belleville 59; Montclair Kimberley Academy, 63; Newark East Side, 73; Nutley, 115; Irvington, 152; Caldwell, 168; Glen Ridge, 222.
Girls
Belleville, 36; Newark Academy, 56; West Essex, 77; Irvington, 86; Caldwell, 118; East Side, 165.
