The Irvington High School girls' varsity basketball team seeks to continue to improve.
JoiNay Carr had 16 points, but the Lady Blue Knights fell to Bloomfield Tech, 76-42, on Saturday Jan. 7 in West Caldwell in Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division play.
Natasha Walker had nine points, Alvina Johnson added six points and Maria Simmons scored five points for the Blue Knights, who fell to 5-2.
Carr scored 15 points and Kemaya Powell had 10 points to lead IHS to a 48-29 win at Glen Ridge on Jan. 5 in divisional play.
The Lady Blue Knights trailed 23-21 at halftime before outscoring Glen Ridge, 17-3, in the third quarter for a 38-26 lead.
Walker also had nine points for the IHS.
The Blue Knights lost to a good Montclair team, 56-44, on Jan. 3 in a battle of undefeated teams at IHS in a SEC crossover game.
Carr had a game-high 21 points and Maria Simmons added 12 points for the Blue Knights. Montclair improved to 7-0. Powell had six points and Walker added five points for IHS.
