IHS boys' hoop team is seeded No. 6 in the ECT

The Irvington High School boys’ varsity basketball team received the No. 6 seed in the Essex County Tournament.
The Blue Knights will begin play in the ECT on Feb. 4. North 13th St. Tech, seeded No. 22, will host No. 23 seed Arts in the preliminary round on or by this Saturday. The winner will visit No. 11 seed Newark Central on or by Feb. 2. The winner of that game will visit the Blue Knights on Feb. 4.
Seton Hall Prep is the No. 1 seed. Newark Tech is seeded second. Bloomfield is seeded third, Columbia is fourth and East Side is fifth in the 33-team field.
Junior point guard Al-Jahaad Bradford scored 10 points and sophomore center Shakur Juiston had eight points, but the Blue Knights lost to Newark East Side, 46-34, on Jan. 19. Senior forward Jalen Baytops and senior guard Bobby Mack each had six points and senior forward Deshawn Lewis had four points for the Blue Knights, who fell to 8-4.
