Deshawn Lewis scored 18 points and Al-Jahaad Bradford had 17 points and eight assists to lead the sixth-seeded Irvington High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 72-45 win over No. 11 seed Central in the round of 16 of the Essex County Tournament last Saturday at IHS.

Dashana Ransome captured the girls’ 55-meter hurdles to lead the Irvington High School indoor track and field teams at the Essex County Championships last Sunday at Seton Hall University in South Orange.
The IHS girls’ team finished fourth overall in the girls’ team standings among the 18 scoring teams based on top-six finishes in the events. Newark Tech won the girls’ team crown.
Dashana’s sister, Denesha, took second in the 55-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash.

The Irvington High School girls’ varsity basketball team, seeded 11th, lost at No. 6 seed Newark Tech, 63-53, in the round of 16 of the Essex County Tournament last Saturday Feb. 4 in Newark.

The Irvington High School boys’ varsity basketball team hopes to make a strong run in the Essex County Tournament. The Blue Knights, seeded sixth, will begin ECT play in the round of 16 this Saturday Feb. 4 against the winner between No. 11 seed Newark Central and No. 22 seed North 13th St. Tech. IHS received byes in the first and second preliminary rounds.
