Irvington hosts local authors at library
The Irvington Public Library will host its annual Black History Month Program on Saturday, Feb. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Children’s Room of the Library.
The celebration will feature different African-American children’s authors from the community: Vanassa Brantley-Newton, author and illustrator of “Let FreedomSing,” “Presenting … Tallulah and Ruby” and the “Booker Boys” series; Antointette Gelin, author of “Dream Princess;” Veona Thomas, a story-teller and author of “A special Sound of Freedom;” and T. S. Bradshaw, author of “The Goodees.”
On Satrurday, February 12th, 2011, Wiz Kid Qua-Fiki will be at the Irvington Public Library in Civic Square to meet with young readers with an interest in magic and conjuring. He will donate a copy of his newest (2010) book, "Go Fish Card Tricks," and from 2:30 - 3:00 PM he will perform a magic show made up of many of the tricks included in that book. The Wiz Kids, Inc of East Orange will also present the library with donations of other books on magic and conjuring suitable for children for the children's library.
