A native of Detroit, Michigan, Sims is an interdisciplinary artist, mathematician, and activist who lectures and exhibits internationally on the topics of mathematical art, ethnomathematics and visual mathematics. His conceptual art includes visual mathematical art, public time-sculptures and icons of white supremacy. His lecture will explain selections of his past and present projects to best illustrate his ideas of combining Math and Art to provide a better platform for understanding the world and stimulating deeper thinking.
